Nikki Rutter: “Child-on-Parent violence: experiences, perceptions, and perspectives of childhood violence in children under 12” (WORKING TITLE)

In Former students by General Account

My doctoral research will be an exploration of the emerging field of Child-on-parent violence, specifically in children under 12. I will be gathering and analyzing the perspectives of parents, practitioners, and children themselves and conceptualising where (if?) the phenomenon may sit on the frameworks of child development, domestic abuse, and child safeguarding.
Prior to starting this training I completed a MA in Social Work, completing placements in both domestic abuse, and child protection teams. For the MSW I focused upon parental experiences of child-on-parent violence, which has been much more widely recognised in practice than in research, until recently.
