ADR UK PhD Studentships

ADR UK is inviting applications from Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) Doctoral Training Partnerships (DTPs) to host a cohort of PhD studentships using ADR UK linked administrative data.

ADR UK PhD Studentships for 2027/28

ADR UK and ESRC are working with NINE DTP to help recruit up to 30 funded studentships, across all DTPs, for research using one or more of the UK’s 24 flagship datasets. Key details of the scheme include:

  • All studentships will begin in Autumn 2027.
  • Like standard ESRC / NINE DTP studentships, awards will be made for between 3.5 and 4.5 years (full-time), depending on an award-holder’s previous level of post-graduate training and their training needs.
  • Unlike standard ESRC / NINE DTP studentships, these studentships are supervisor-led, with supervisors proposing a research and training programme. Student recruitment can begin in January 2027, once prospective supervisors have been notified that their application has been successful.
Please see the links on the right for more information.

Application forms from prospective supervisors must submit to [email protected] by Friday 14th August 2026.

A NINE DTP panel will then select 5 applications to forward on to the ESRC by 15th September 2026. Successful applicants will be notified in January 2027.
