Through interviews & art with children and young people seeking asylum and their parents, alongside interviews with professionals working with those families to promote their safety, I am doing case study research to understand the safety of accompanied children seeking asylum. The research aims to understand how children and young people and their families conceptualise safety, in a bid to draw attention to an overlooked group of young people in both research and practice. This research will be an opportunity for children’s voices to be heard by other participating agencies, due to a three stage design that begins with the views of people seeking asylum.
This research is being undertaken in partnership with The North of England Refugee Service, a non-profit organisation dedicated to supporting families seeking asylum.
