Jack Taggart: “Multi-stakeholder development in a gridlocked world: legitimacy and the global partnership for effective development cooperation”

Description:

My research concerns itself with the challenges to, and assessment of, the establishment of legitimate and effective multi-stakeholder development governance mechanisms in the post-2015 development era. My PhD project examines the dynamics of interaction amongst a heterogeneous range of state, private, and civil society development actors within the Global Partnership for Effective Development Cooperation. The project seeks to determine the extent to which the dynamics and characteristics of the partnership are indicative of a shift from a previously hierarchical donor dominated global development agenda towards a transformative partnership characterised by horizontality.
