Healthy ageing results an incredible diversity in the social, physiological, and cognitive functioning of older adults. Yet, the impact of this diversity on language use remains relatively unexplored in the field of linguistics. My research investigates how ageing-related social and biological changes impact phonological production and perception in later-life. I have a particular interest in how biology-driven changes in the speech of older adults may index sociolinguistic meaning in the minds of listeners. I am also interested in how auditory developments in sound perception might motivate changes in sound production.
