LeAnne Zarroug: Which Strategies do Black women use to navigate and nurture relationships while studying with predominantly white environments?

In Students by General Account

My PhD research is interested in the relationship formation of Black women on predominantly white campuses. This research will explore the range of dynamics occurring within Black women’s relationships, utilising a hooksian approach to relationships to identify Black women’s sense of self, familial, romantic, platonic and academic relationships. Utilising a range of qualitative methods, this research aims to uncover how higher education as an institution impacts Black women’s relationships with Critical Race Theory (CRT) also acting as a framework. My geographical focus is across the island of Ireland, with my previous research focusing on women living in Northern Ireland.
