Gemma Molyneux: “Ethnographic exploration of the ways girls’ relationships shape their consumption of science discourses”

In Students by General Account

Within Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) professions there is a high level of gender imbalance. This research will combine the insights within feminist STS around gender imbalance in STEM and explore the broader aspects of girls everyday lives. To gain a better understanding of young women’s perspective, experience and consumption of STEM an ethnographic study within a school will be undertaken. This project seeks to increase insight into how young women’s experiences and perspectives are driven by the STEM narrative interacting with their day to day lives and how this consequently affects their selection on academic subjects.
