Madeleine Winnard: “Widening participation: access and experience of underrepresented students at an elite university in an era of high fees”

In Students by jvnf65

Description:

My research is a qualitative exploration of the experiences of students from north east low participation neighbourhoods in accessing and attending higher education. Using Durham University as a case study via an “inclusive” ethnographic approach, my research will investigate the impact of the fee increase in attracting students from this cohort to the university, and will also seek to explore the disparities in student background in the application and admissions to the university’s colleges. Operating collaboratively with the Office For Fair Access, the research aims to define methods to improve under-represented student access and experience.
