Working in Interdisciplinary Ways – with Dr Sabina Strachan of how2glu
In this participative, graphically-facilitated workshop, we will explore different approaches to interdisciplinary research and focus on relationship-building, core principles and overcoming issues.
You will first frame your own research in terms of outcomes, opportunities and audiences. We’ll then consider how different kinds of interdisciplinary or ‘cross-disciplinary’ methods and practice – interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary and transdisciplinary – relate to collaborative skills and approaches and capture a range of benefits associated with this way of working.
Working individually and in small groups, you’ll practice creating a map of interdisciplinary intersections relevant to your own research using a glucard™ tool. We’ll then consider ways you can maximise their potential.
We will also capture a range of issues that could arise when working in interdisciplinary ways and workshop ways to overcome them.
Sabina will illustrate concepts, share her own experiences and demonstrate tools by sharing live visualisations and respond to your particular questions and objectives.
