AIMS/OBJECTIVES OF COURSE
Understand the complex ethical issues associated with new methods of research, including covert methods, online techniques and the disclosure or occurrence of unexpected information or events in research projects.
DESCRIPTION OF COURSE
The session features presentation material and some analysis of case studies. Main themes are: • Internet-mediated research techniques • Surveillance, big data and deception • Moral harms and lack of consent • Confidentiality & disclosure; legal duties of breach
